Christmas Eve Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
2 c Sugar
2 c Flour
1/2 c Shortening
1/2 c Butter Or Margarine
1 c Water
1/4 c Cocoa
1/2 c Buttermilk
2 Eggs; Beaten
1 ts Baking Soda
1 ts Vanilla
—Icing Ingredients—
1/2 c Butter Or Margarine
1/4 c Cocoa
6 tb Milk
1 Box Powdered Sugar
1 ts Vanilla
1 c Chopped nuts
Cooking Instructions:
Cake:
1. Sift flour and sugar together. Bring butter, shortening, water and cocoa to a boil in a sauce pan.
2. Pour over flour mixture while still hot.Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla. 3. Spoon into a large baking sheet with sides.
4. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes. Ice cake while still hot.
Icing:
1. Combine butter, cocoa and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
2. Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Mix well.
